C-Clamps, Toolmaker Clamps, & Bar Clamps

Made in New Zealand for

NELSON Hobby Specialties

8/28/08

C-Clamps and Bar Clamps, are back in stock again.

NELSON Hobby clamps are made by SJ Products in New Zealand. SJ Products are marketed exclusively and sold under the NELSON Hobby Specialties name in the USA and Canada. Several clamps are available including; C Clamps, Toolmaker clamps, and Sliding Bar Clamps. All these items are realistically priced for the modeler.

                        C Clamps

These clamps are intended for general purpose modeling using wood, fiberglass, and metal components that need to be held in place for machining or while glue or epoxy is drying or curing. The light weight of these clamps is helpful when dealing with small and typical light weight components. Ample clamping action is provided for adhesives to provide high strength joints.

Three sizes of inexpensive miniature C Clamps are offered, 1/2" wide x 1/2" deep, 1" wide and 1" deep, and 1" wide and 2" deep. Light weight allows for many modeling uses.

The C Clamps are fabricated from glass filled fiber reinforced Acetal copolymer plastic. The strength of the clamp is excellent. The clamping screws are plated steel with large knurled knobs. Two sizes of clamps provide a maximum widths and depths of 1/2” and 1”. In addition there is a 1” clamp with extra wide arms that provides a 2” depth.

The miniature 1/2” clamp is great for working with small parts. It’s light weight, yet ample clamping power, allows the use of a clamp instead of straight pins. Three sizes of miniature C Clamps are offered, 1/2” wide x 1/2” deep, 1” wide and 1” deep, and 1” wide and 2” deep.

              Toolmaker Clamps

Two sizes (1 1/4” and 2 1/2” clamping length and 1 1/4” and 1 3/4” opening width) of miniature toolmaker’s clamps are produced. These sturdy clamps are ideal for applying even pressure over a wider area than available with a C Clamp. Clamp material is the same as used in the C Clamps. These clamps are also used where additional clamping pressure is required.

Two sizes of miniature toolmaker clamps are ideal for applying even clamping pressure over a wide area. Available in 1 1/4" and 1 3/4" widths.

               Sliding Bar Clamps

The Sliding Bar clamp allows the clamping of components that are unusually far apart. Typically this could be clamping the sides of a fuselage to a bulkhead.

Three sizes of bar clamps provide clamping widths up to 2 1/2", 9" and 13". Bases on jaws have provisions for bench mounting. Spinning jaw on anvil can be reversed for round stock. (6" and 12" size shown in photo)

The reinforced Acetal clamping fixtures are positioned along a 3/8” square aluminum tube. Reposition-able locking pins are provided for setting up the proper spacing for the clamping required. Flexible plastic ties are employed to keep from loosing the locking pins. The clamp material is the same as used in the C Clamps. Three sizes are offered that can provide a maximum clamping width of approximately 2 1/2”, 9”, and 13”.

The clamp bases can be attached directly to a building board, thus eliminating the square aluminum tubing bar. Two mounting holes are provided at the bases of each clamping device.
The following prices are subject to change. Just received (8/28/08) a shipment of clamps. Clamps cost us 10% more and shipping cost is not know at this time. Will update prices soon as I get shipping costs.
